Lazy Sunday

Yesterday, my husband and I got out and did a bit of yard work. I still haven't planted any new flowers, but hopefully within the next couple of weeks, I can get some extra cash to get that done. Here are a few pictures from my front yard.

This is a couple of views of the front. Notice the lights or what is left of the lights that I ran over with the lawnmower! See the huge gaps between the azalea bushes?

More views of the front.

A few views of the side of the house. I am going to have to replant those pretty pink flowers. I guess they fell over after one of the many rainy weeks we had! They are still pretty though.

Junk

So, my goal today was to get up early and go garage sale shopping aka Junkin! I even managed to talk Brent into coming with me! So, off we go... Every time I go garage sale shopping, it always reminds me of how much I hate it. We went to several garage sales and even one estate sale and this is what I got...

You are probably asking yourself, "why would she buy that horrible looking coffee cup with a gigantic chip in it", well I will tell you. I didn't intend to buy this cup, I was looking at a sale and my gigantic purse knocked it over and it broke, so therefor, I was obligated to pay for it! What a great find, don't ya think?

Good News!

Today the Hubs and I decided to go ahead and purchase the couch and chair/recliner that we fell in love with at Ashley Furniture. 10 days from today and they will be ours! I can't wait to get them in my living room! The chair/recliner is so adorable and it is the perfect size for our tiny living room. My plan is to clean up our jumbo couch, chair and ottoman and sell them. That way I can put that money towards the new set. Obviously, that won't happen... I will sell them and spend the money on more crap! HA!
They will look so good with our new curtains I ordered! Those should be in next week! Yippee! I can't wait to get all my new stuff!!!!

Curtains!

I just purchased my clearance curtains from the Wal-Mart website! I can't wait to get them! I'm so excited and I LOVE getting stuff in the mail. Especially stuff for my home. I'll post a picture when I get them all put up in their new home! Hooray!!!

Stop and smell...

I just love window box planters! I wish my house could pull them off, but unfortunately, it can't. I was thinking I might could add some to my deck. Now there is an idea! Enjoy the scenery!

Sew, Sew, Suck My Toe!

Soo.... Brent's grandma is probably the nicest lady around. Both of my grandmas have passed away, so I look at his grandparents as my grandparents. Well, grandma is an awesome seamstress and when I told her about my adventure into sewing she told me that she has an older sewing machine that she would give me. The only problem is I have to have it fixed, but it shouldn't cost too much. How exciting is that? She has several sewing machines apparently just laying around ready to be used. So, my goal is to get this thing spruced up and get at it! A lady at work also told me that there are all kinds of books on sewing these "sweater animals". Apparently these things are pretty popular! Who Knew?

Big Lots!

Remember the really cool chair that I found at Ashley Furniture that was actually a recliner?

Well, I've been on the lookout for another couch to go with it that didn't cost a million dollars. Well... I found this one at Big Lots of all places and it's like half the price. Now, don't get me wrong, I still like the one from Ashley's, but this one is much cheaper. I'm still going to continue to look around before I make any decisions. Plus, this one from Big Lots might be too "matchy matchy" and not really the right brown. So, we'll see!

Peep Show

Here is a sneak peek of my latest project.

Everyone has seen these generic tables that you can get at like Wal-Mart. Well, my mother has left two of them at my house and I've decided to try and do something with them. I thought I would spray paint it black and cover the top of the table with tile that you can get from Home Depot or Lowes.

I found some really pretty tile in the store that would match the curtains I plan on getting. If they turn out, I will use them as side tables. Neat!

Something Old.... Something New

I'm starting another new project. Currently I have a million different projects going, so why not start another one. I was extremely bored today and it just came to me. I'll post pictures tomorrow of it. Of course it's not finished yet. I hope to get it finished this week! I can't wait. I love projects.
Ciao!

Monster Bat Moth

This is what was waiting outside for me yesterday morning at my house. Yikes! This thing is huge! I have never seen anything like it. It could have easily carried me off to kill me. Luckily, I escaped unharmed.

Awesome Kitchen

I haven't posted a new house in a few days, so here it goes. I found this cute house and I'm posting it because of the kitchen. It rocks!

This isn't a good picture of the front, but it still looks super cute. I can imagine some really colorful flowers with some pretty pink azaleas.

Black cabinets (my personal fav), ton of space, awesome stainless appliances! My Dream!

Splish Splash

When we bought our house it came with an above ground pool. We tried to keep it but quickly realized what a pain it was, not to mention the cost!
Now, they did a good job with putting it together, they even put it on a concrete slab. To me, it's just an eyesore. From what I hear, a pool adds no value to your home. It might even bring down the value. So, this summer, we plan to take it down and use the concrete slab for something more useful. We want to create a BBQ area and put up a canopy and maybe even a firepit.

I think it would be awesome to sit under and drink some Mojitos with some good friends and some good conversation.

Anyone Out There??

So, I'm wondering if anyone actually reads this! Anyone Out There? It sure is hard to get one of these things going. I kind of feel like I'm entertaining myself sometimes. Oh well...

I came across these two fabulous kitchens yesterday on the internet, www.countryliving.com. I would love to have something like this some day! My kitchen is so small it's pathetic. It's one of those kitchen/dining areas. Not a lot of space to do anything. We just try to make the best of it considering neither one of us does much cooking!

This kitchen looks so clean and fresh to me! Makes me want to put on an apron and bake a cake! I love the cabinets and the flooring is too cool.

This kitchen is so full of everything wonderful! Look at that sink! I wouldn't mind doing the dishes in something like that. Just a touch of green and red throughout. Not real sure how I feel about the shelf over the sink (the one at the very top). The cabinets rock though!

What do you think? Anyone? Anyone?

While I was watching one of my favorite shows on HGTV, Pure Design, I fell in love. Samantha was redecorating a nursery and she found these stuffed animals that are uniquely handcrafted from recycled wool/cashmere sweaters, vintage buttons and whimsy!

They are all just so adorable it has made me want to go and buy a sewing machine and learn to sew! My mother tried to teach me when I was younger, but I couldn't tell you what I learned. Maybe I will look around this weekend for a cheap "learning" sewing machine. I really think I have ADD. I'm always wanting to learn and do new things. You should see my kitchen floor right now. I got bored and started tearing up tile! But, that is another blog.

Cook Mama Up Something Real Nice

I'm so in love with these old retro ovens and refrigerators! I wish I had the cash to go and by me a set. I found these lovely ones on the internet. Hell, I'll even take an old ghetto looking one. At least I could try and bring it back to life! Aaahhhh, Day Dreamin Again...
What do you think of these?

Picture Me Rollin...

So, I was searching the web today and came across these fabulous rides. Now, I don't like motorcycles at all. I think they are loud and annoying, but if I did, I would totally rock this pink one!

I had a scooter when I was younger and boy did I have fun! I rode that thing all over town (of course my mother didn't know where all I went), but eventually it got taken away from me because I wrecked the thing pretty much on a daily basis and it was sold to another family. Now, rumor has it that Brent's grandpa has a 1979(?) Vespa hidden in the garage. I have yet to see it because this man's garage is so full, you can't get the door open! Seriously. Now, my plan is to eventually buy the Vespa and fix it up and make it all my own! Okay, I'll share it with the Hubs... or will I??

I have been trying to get Brent to buy me a cruiser bicycle for many years now. Of course, I want a pink one! And how cute is this one I found! I would get pink and Brent could get a black one and we'll ride around and look adorable! Okay, I'm sure that last part won't happen, but I still want one! Hint Hint

Projects! Projects!

Hey Peeps!
If you have a special project you have done that are proud of and want to show off or you remodeled a room of your house or ALL of your house, let me know! I will post your pictures on here to show everyone how crafty you are!
Email me at: mrsgrist@yahoo.com and let me know all about it. I would love to post your creations on here!

Cute Park Hill Cottage!

I would love to buy my next home in either the Park Hill or Hillcrest Area. I just love all of those older homes (well most of them anyway). But, until that time, I will just have to stalk the neighborhoods and post houses I like on this blog. Unfortunately, most of the homes in those areas are older so there don't have as many bedrooms/ baths as most newer houses do, unless they have been completely remodeled and then I'm sure they would be out of my price range! Figures.

I came across this one and I think it has so much potential! I just want to buy it and spend a ton of money remodeling and redecorating it (of course this is all in my mind) - I promise I am sane...

Going Green

I have been on the lookout for some pretty green curtains for my living room. I came across these on the Wal-Mart website. It's odd, but my husband has a knack for picking out really cool curtains. Not real sure how he does it. Anyway, he found some really pretty ones at one of the Wal-Mart store that I have been eyeing from afar and waiting until I have enough cash to buy. When they are $20.00 per panel and I need 4, it's not cheap.
So, I was looking on the website today and I cam across these three. The 1st one is my favorite so far AND they are on sale for like $15.00 for 2 panels! Nice! And I'm digging that color of green too.

An Oldie, but a Goodie

Who would paint their house green and yellow? Well, these people did and I must admit, it looks better in person than it does in this photo. I love the neighborhood that this is in (right off Greenwood, by the old Michaels Mansion) We lived in that neighborhood once and LOVED it! Everyone kept up with their house and lawn, cute cute houses everywhere! I'm not sure, but that sure does look like a pink room to me! Even Better!

Brand Spankin New - If That's Your Thing!

I'm usually not all about brand new houses, but I have to admit the idea of everything being new is appealing. This one looks super cute on the outside and I'm sure it looks great on the inside too. Not to mention it has 5, yes 5 bedrooms! What would YOU do with all of those bedrooms?

If this sofa's a rockin...

While out looking at couches and chairs, the Hubs and I came across these two at Ashley Furniture. The good part is, we both love them! The bad part is, they are kind of pricey, but what can you do? The couch is a great neutral color and the chair doesn't look it (which is a good thing), but it's also a recliner! Perfect for our tiny living room. Hopefully they will be ours very soon!

Wake Me Up Before You Go Go

I think I might go and wake up the Hubs and see if I can drag him around town to look at Antique Stores and used furniture stores. He absolutely hates doing this, but those are sacrifices you have to make when you are married, right?
We are on the look for a new couch and chair. We don't want anything too matchy matchy. So, I was thinking of maybe getting a new couch that is in a neutral color and then maybe finding a chair/love seat in some different pattern. The hard part is, Brent and I do not have the same taste in anything, especially when it comes to decorating our house. If he could, he would have this house as bare as possible with all white walls, Eeek. He loves that I live in a hospital look. Not me, I want my house to feel lived in with personal touches. I like contemporary things, but I also like vintage things too. So, we'll see what we can find.

Paint It Red

I found this cute little house that might be in my price range... some day! I don't know why, but I love it when front doors are painted red. It makes me want to paint mine red. Hmmm...

This one is 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 3 fireplaces (I would hope one would be in the bedroom, wink wink), not sure when this one was built since realtor.com is being an ass today and not working. But this lovely house with the red door could be yours for only $142,900
