Damnit!

The cute little house on South "S" is sold AGAIN! I finally heard back from my Realtor this afternoon and she said it has been snatched up once again. I wonder what they actually paid for it since it was only listed at $89,900.

We came across this one today at lunch. It is over off of Park by Brent's Grandma's house! It is 3 bedroom, 2 bath with 2 living areas and a sunroom, 1,752 sq.ft., large detached workshop with electric, storm cellar and 2 car attached carport.

I emailed my Realtor back and told her about this one and the other one I saw on South 33rd Circle. I hope she can squeeze these in tomorrow. We are set to look at the house on South P at 10am and I can't wait! I'm so excited. Looking at houses is awesome! I am so nosy!

Another Prospect

I was searching the real estate websites last night, as I always do, and I came across this new listing. It looks like a pretty nice house from the outside, but unfortunately it's too new of a listing to see any photos of the inside. I emailed my Realtor this morning to see if we could check it out when we go look at the other 2 this weekend!

It's in the Druid Hills area and has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, 1,850 sq.ft., 2 living areas, formal dining room, small bonus room off of the laundry and it says it has a unique backyard, Hmmmm.... Interesting. Anyway, it's only $107,000!
I wish I could see inside of it now! I bet older people own it, so it will probably need some updating, but what house doesn't right?

Apparently, I LOVE My Name!

Have you guys seen these things? I'm going to try and make one myself, cause these things are outrageously expensive! I've went to several different websites and they range from $150-$200! I'm pretty sure all I would have to do is buy the frame (which Hobby Lobby usually has them for half off) and the mat and just have Hobby Lobby cut the mat to the size I need and presto, I have a radical frame! Has anyone else tried anything like this? I thought I could find the letters of my name online and just send them to Wal-Mart or some place like that and have them printed out (and that is super cheap). I'm excited now and I don't want to wait until next pay day... As soon as I get one done, I'll post pictures on here!

Say My Name

One of my favorite TV shows to watch is Tori & Dean, Home Sweet Hollywood. Go ahead, laugh it up. Anyway, they have this personalized sign in their yard that I like so I did some Googling and came across this website, www.personalizationmall.com, which has all kinds of cool personalized stuff. Hint Hint, Birthday in September.... Hmmm....
I've decided that I would like to "christen" my new house with this one! I absolutely love it!

Isn't it just adorable? There are different colors you can pick from and the established year is the year we got married, aaahhhh... The design is printed on a custom-cut magnet piece, which can be removed and replaced with other designs, as desired.
I also came across these other personalized items and I was bored so I tested them out to be sure it would like cool with my name and information on it! I love that about this website! Yahooo!

I LOVE this idea! This is a garden I could actually handle! And this is something you could do for super cheap instead of paying the hefty price tag of $58.95, it just wouldn't be personalized, but I think I could live with that!

Man, I can't wait to move! Now all I have to do is find me a place! I've found out that is easier said than done with my budget!

My New Obsession

What is my new obsession you ask, well let me tell you about it. You see, once I see something that I like, it quickly becomes an obsession and that is what has happened here. I was flipping through a back issue of one of my "home' magazines that I picked up for $1.00 each at one of the Antique stores around here (best place to find magazines for super cheap) and I came across this article about Reel Mower's, also known as old school push mowers in my book. Well, naturally now I am obsessed and want to buy one! Brent thinks I'm crazy, but how cool would I look walking behind my awesome and cute push mower with my shades on waiting to finish so I can drink up my yummy lemonade that is just waiting for me to get through mowing? Of course, I would want to keep our regular lawn mower, I'm not crazy, well, I'm not totally crazy, yet. Anyway, I thought I would share the adorableness of these machines with you, so you too can drool over them. If I do get one, maybe I'll let you come over and mow my grass for a glass of yummy lemonade... PS- My birthday is coming up in September, if you want to spend a lot of money on me, here is an idea! Kisses!

Too Little, Too Late

I thought I would share this with you as well. I came across this house on one of the realtor websites. The house is in the Druid Hill area (which is super nice). It's 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, 1964 sq.ft. and was listed for $121,500. It was a HUD house and is owned by the city or something, anyway you have to submit bids on the house. Well it gives you this website you can go and look at all of the information on the house even the inspection report and it shows where someone placed a bid for like $109,000 and it was accepted! These people got this awesome house for $109,000 in that area! Lucky Buttholes!

Little Houses....

I am waiting to hear back from my Realtor about going to look at 2 houses in Park Hill. They are both small, but I will kick myself if I at least don't look at them! They are both too cute not to! Plus, they are SUPER CHEAP! I've had it in my head that I need at least a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house, but we really don't. It's just Brent and I and the dogs. Eventually, we are going to try to have a chitlin, but until then, who knows. Even if we had a child, it would still be awhile before we needed more room. But, we'll see just how much room these houses actually have.

This house is back on the market. The house was put under contract within 3 days of being on the market! But, unfortunately for someone, it did not work out and it's for sell once again! It's 2 bedroom, 1 bath, ONLY 1,062 sq.ft., wood floors, sits on 2 lots, brick patio, den, formal living for only $89,900. Which I'm sure we could negotiate a better price! Isn't it adorable? At that price, I could afford to put money into it!

This house was just listed only about a few weeks ago! 2 bedroom, 1 bath, ONLY 1109 sq.ft. NEW roof, siding, windows, appliances, heat & air, insulation, duct work, cabinets, plumbing and paint. Has a deck, hardwood floors, formal dining, for $104,900!

These prices are awesome! Too bad they both are only 2 bedroom, 1 bath. I think I could deal with the 2 bedroom part, but only having 1 bath is getting to me. Hopefully she can get us into see them before this weekend! I get too excited and I can't wait. Just from the pictures, they both look like they have loads of potential to be great houses!

Tweet! Tweet!

I'm so excited, I found a bird cage at Hobby Lobby AND it was on sale! It's white and adorable. They had 2 different sizes to choose from, but I decided on the smaller one. It was originally $29.99 and I got it for only $10.20! How awesome is that? I'm not real sure if I want to keep it white or paint it another color. I guess it will all depend on the new house and what it looks like.

I know it sounds silly, but I have been buying things and putting them aside for when we move. Just little decorative things. I would like to get some new towels and such for the new place. It's so exciting to think about the future move. It's like a brand new life waiting to happen! I can't wait to be back closer to my friends and family! The drive to and from Greenwood is such a pain!
Not much longer now until me meet with the mortgage lender! The time is going by fast, but not fast enough. I'm so impatient and I want everything to happen NOW! Unfortunately, that isn't how life works, is it?

PET ID TAGS

I came across this cute idea on marthastewart.com on making your own Pet ID Tags. I have been wanting to find something where I could get my dogs cute ID Tags without spending a crap load of money on them. Wal-Mart used to have one of those machine where you could make them, but I haven't seen that thing around in awhile. I think I will try these out. The only negative thing is you have to buy the Shrinky Dinks on this website and I'm not sure if you can buy them at Wal-Mart or not, but I will check!

TOOLS & MATERIALS:

Shrinky Dinks Printable Plastic Sheets - goestores.com
Regular or Decorative Scissors
Hole Punch
Tag Template which you can get from - marthastewart.com

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Download Pet ID tag template to your computer's desktop. Open the file and type your pet's name and your phone number.

2. Print tags on a Shrinky Dinks printable plastic sheet. Cut out with regular or decorative-edge scissors and punch a hole where indicated. Bake according to package instructions; let cool. Seal both sides with matte clear-coat spray before attaching to collar.

If you know of anywhere local you can buy the Shrinky Dinks, let me know! My dogs want new trendy ID tags!

Lame Week - Battle of the Houses!

Not much has been going on lately, therefor I haven't had anything interesting to blog about. There hasn't even been any homes for sale worth blogging about! We did look at 2 houses last Sunday. The first one was on Hiland in Hillcrest. It was a beautiful home and the homeowners did an awesome job of decorating and remodeling it. They did everything to the house that Brent and I would have done to it (given that we had the money). It was 3 bedrooms, 1 small bathroom, formal living room and dining room, sunroom, and an awesome kitchen! We talked about it and even though it was an awesome price for that neighborhood, it was still a bit more than what we wanted to spend, I don't want to get our monthly payment too high. Someone will be getting an awesome deal on that house!
The second house we looked at was the FSBO home on South M in Park Hill. It was really cute and the way the layout was made the house feel bigger than it actually was. The only downside really is that it only had 2 bedrooms, but it did have 2 bathrooms which is a good thing. They had redone the kitchen and converted the one car garage into an awesome huge laundry room (big plus), hardwood floors, little den/TV area, deck in the back. Brent really likes this house and I still love the one we previously looked at a few weeks ago on South N. So, I guess we'll still continue to look in the mean time and wait until August to see what the lady on South N is planning to do (sell/don't sell) and then go from there.

DIY IDEAS - SILHOUTTE ART

Last night we went by Books A Million and I was looking through the magazines. I'm sure you have all seen the DIY magazine, after flipping through it for awhile and deciding not to spend the $4.99 price it had on it, I decided to check out their website today. I came across this idea for cheap art! Not too bad. I'm not sure about you, but I am always looking for a cheap alternative for things to hang on my walls. I thought this would be something I might try. Who knows, it might turn out just like these! HA!

If you are interested, here are the steps I got from the website. Speaking of websites, check it out, there are some interesting things on there- diyideas.com

Create your own dramatic shadow art with black art paper and mat board. Here’s how:
Click on the illustrations and each will appear in its own window. Print, and use a photocopier to enlarge the illustrations to the desired size. Tape the image to heavy black art paper and use a crafts knife to cut through both layers, protecting your work surface with a self-healing mat. Use spray adhesive to adhere the silhouette to white mat board, then frame the finished piece.

Clarifying The Bird Cage...

So, I guess I didn't really clarify the bird cage comment. You were probably thinking, "Amanda wants to put a bird cage in her house and she doesn't even have a bird?" Well, yeah, I do. I saw a picture awhile ago in a magazine where they were using one as a decoration. So, I'm assuming there is some bird cage trend, cause when I started looking online, I found a bunch! My goal is to find one much cheaper and fix it up myself. Tweet Tweet

Candle Holder, Tacky Candles and Bird Cage Oh My!

I made it to the antique store today and my candle holder was still there! I paid only $14.50 and it included these ugly candles! I do plan on painting it, but I'm not sure sure yet what color. I would like for it to look kind of antique white or something, but we'll see. I'll just have to go to Home Depot and check out what they have.

We also went by that used furniture & home decor store across from Ramsey Jr. High. It is awesome! A little pricey, but it looks like good quality stuff. A lot of older vintage type furniture and home decor, but everything looked like it was in great condition. She had a really cool black distressed rocking chair out front and this cool white bird cage with a price tag of like $125! I had been driving by this store for a week now eyeing that bird cage and dreaming of buying it, but not for $125. She has to be smoking something. She told me that she puts new stuff out every week. I can't wait to go back!
We found another FSBO home today, but it's out of our price range. We are still going to look at it tomorrow since Brent already made an appointment. Wouldn't want to not show up or anything! It's in the Hillcrest neighborhood, which is right by the Park Hill neighborhood. The homes in Hillcrest are just as cute as the homes in Park Hill, but are a bit more pricey because it's Hillcrest. The couple selling this one has just recently purchased another house and has priced this house to sell fast. It's 3 bedroom, 1 bath, I think Brent said it's like 1600 sq.ft., new everything. They said they bought it 4 years ago and completely gutted it and replaced everything. They are also installing new windows, which they have ordered now. They are asking $139,000, which isn't bad at all for that neighborhood. That house will go fast if it's in half the condition they claim it is. We were told we could go up to $140,000 in price, but we talked about it and I don't think we want to pay that much monthly. Plus, my heart belongs on South N.

Yes, I am Insane.

So, yeah, I'm completely insane. I will be the first to admit this. I can't stop thinking of that house we went and looked at last week. And I'm not just talking about thinking about it every once in awhile, I mean obsessively thinking about it, already moved my shit in and remodeled it thinking about it. I will catch myself daydreaming at work where I would place my furniture and then I decide that I will need to get more furniture because I don't have enough to fill up this bigger house! The sad thing is, I don't even know for sure whether or not this women is going to sell. I have a pretty good feeling she will, but I can't be certain. We are suppose to get in contact with each other in August. So please cross every bone, toe, finger, hair, whatever on or in your body that she will, cause I really don't think we will beat this house. Sure, we can find another one that we will like, but I've never had this feeling with a house before. I really feel like that we could actually start a family in this house and be happy! Plus, it is in our desired neighborhood close to friends, family, shopping and work. Not too bad.

So, on a brighter note, I am so glad it is going to be such a nice weekend! I look forward to getting out and mowing the grass, we'll what's left of it. We went to an antique store last weekend and I saw this candle holder that I put off buying and I've been thinking about it all week, so I think I'm going to go back this weekend and get it, if it's still there AND there is a new used furniture/household/knick-knack type store here that I've been wanting to check out, so I plan on doing that as well. It is advertised on their sign as upscale resale. Sounds great to me! I can't wait to check it out! I just love stores like that. Until Then...

Cottage Living

My husband and I have such different taste in decorating. I prefer a mixture of modern & vintage items, he likes brand new contemporary. He would also like it if we didn't have anything in our house other than the things we absolutely had to have. Me, the more the merrier. I think those things are what make a house a home. I love the whole idea of cottage living and decorating. So, I think what I'm going to do is just secretly bring things in a little at a time so Brent won't realize what I am doing. Here are a few pictures that I found and liked. Enjoy!

Sunday Bloody Sunday

It is already Sunday! Is it just me or does the weekend just fly by? Oh well, what can you do? We went and looked at the house yesterday and we are both in love with it. It does need some updating in the kitchen, but we figured all of those older homes (in our price range that is) would, and of course just cosmetic changes. She has a lot of wallpaper which I would change. It has a formal living room and a formal dining room, sunroom, 2 bedrooms downstairs and a den, which is my favorite room of the house! The kitchen is small, but it is enough for us and it also has a little eat in area and a bar area where you could eat too! There is only 1 bathroom which is small, but that was another thing we expected in that neighborhood. There is an upstairs part that she has completely updated into a bedroom suite, and it is HUGE! There are hardwood floors throughout the house. She has carpet downstairs, which we would take up in the living room and bedrooms and leave in the den. The backyard is small and shaded. It doesn't have a garage, but there is a carport area with a little place to put your lawnmower, etc. that you can lock. And there is a little patio area. The only downside to the house is really the kitchen. Your washer and dryer is in the kitchen, there is no laundry room and she has a dishwasher, but it's not a built-in, but I figure that is a fairly easy fix. Now, here is the kicker... She told us yesterday she wasn't sure if she was wanting to sell or not! I think she will just by the way she was talking, but you never know. So keep your fingers crossed for us. So in the mean time, we will continue to look. We plan to go to some open houses today and nose around some houses, can't wait. We never called the other FSBO home yesterday, but I think I might today. Brent doesn't like it as much, but you never know what you'll find on the inside. I don't want to get my heart set on the house we looked at yesterday in case she decides not to sell.
Oh yeah, we didn't make it to any garage sells yesterday. We attempted to, but when we did the "drive by", they didn't look too tempting, so we didn't stop. We decided to make the drive to Sallisaw to go to Walls Bargain Center. If you have never been to Walls, you should find a store near you and go. It's a huge store with just a bunch of different stuff from department stores with cheaper prices. They have clothes, shoes, household stuff (even flooring, rugs, etc.), and just a bunch of crap really. Anyway, we get to Sallisaw and the Walls there had went out of business, so we then decide to make the even longer drive to Poteau to go to the other Walls. What a pain in the ass! We finally get there and we didn't even buy anything! I was so dissapointed you don't even know. I wouldn't have minded the drive if I could have found something cool, but unfortunately I came home empty handed. Oh well, there is always next time.

Loving My Weekend

Thank god for the weekend! You work your butt off all week and then have to cram all the things you have to get done into 2 days, but I live for them. We are about to go around to some garage sales and see what "junk" I can score. I know, I know. I said the last time that I hate garage sales and I'm never going again, but I'm a sucker, I can't help it. We also have an appointment today at 3pm to go and tour the house my friend Teresa told me about. We are going to call the other FSBO home and set up one with them too. Might as well, since we'll be in the neighborhood. I really love looking in peoples houses! I am so nosey! I even thought about going to Realtor school and getting my license just because that would be the ultimate job in my book, but then I quickly realized I would actually have to sell a house to make any money. Mmmmm... We also decided that the super cute home that was only 2 bedroom 1 bath was too small. We have to think about the future. If we decide to have a kid, we have to have a place to put it! HA! Anywho, better get going, it's already late in the garage sale world!

ANOTHER New Prospect!

My friend Teresa at work has given me the "heads up" on a house that her friend is wanting to sell. I believe she said it is a 3 bedroom 1 bath with over 2000 sq.ft. It also has a sunroom, which I would LOVE! The only problem... Not sure how much she is asking. The Hubs and I are planning to drive by it tonight and then give her a call to set up a time to actually look at it. It's really cute!

Here is another cute house in Park Hill. It is a wee bit small, but it's so adorable. It's only 2 bedroom 1 bath with 1062 sq.ft., but it's SUPER cheap! What do you think?

I'm still without a camera and it is about to drive me insane. We went and looked at some the other day, but I decided to hold off until Brent gets his settlement money so I can get the one that I want. Not that I have that much going on right now, but it's still nice to have one. Anywho, keep me in mind if you come across a house you think I might like! I'm open to any and all suggestions, well, within reason of course! HA!

I spy... a silver Ford Explorer...

As I was driving around Park Hill the other day (or as Brent would say "stalking' the neighborhood) I came across this FSBO house. It's cute! I don't have the flyer with me, but I think it's 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath??? I want to go and nose around inside!
The Hubs has finally got on the house bandwagon!. He is obsessed with finding one. He is now pouring over the realtor websites and wanting to drive around and look through neighborhoods. Which is fine by me. I love to do that crap anyway! If you see a silver Ford Explorer creeping through your neighborhood, it's okay, it's just me! Here is the FSBO house!

Back to the drawing board

So, we went and looked at the cute house that my Realtor emailed me about in Park Hill. Unfortunately, it wasn't all that I had hoped it would be. It was cute, don't get me wrong, but there were several things that just didn't go over well with me and the Hubs. First of all there is absolutely NO parking anywhere EXCEPT the street and in the alley behind the house. That is a big deal breaker in my book especially since my car has been broken into twice in the past and there would be no place to store the Jet Ski. Then there was the whole thing with the heat & air unit in the master bedroom closet! Yeah, I said closet. They had made this one room right off of the master bedroom one big walk-in closet, which was cool, but putting the heat & air unit in the closet was not cool. I can hear mine sometimes and it's all the way in the garage. Also, the kitchen needed updating which wasn't that big a deal, but if we are getting picky here. The backyard wasn't big at all, but it did have a fence. Our Realtor wasn't sure how old the heat & air unit or the roof was, so not sure on that. It did have that big ass room upstairs that would have been awesome for a media room IF you could get your furniture up the narrow steep ass stairs! Over all, it was cute, but we decided to pass and wait to see what else is out there. Don't want to rush into another house and make the same mistake we did last time. Here are some inside pictures of the house for your viewing pleasure!

These 1st two are of the crazy room upstairs. I wish there were pictures of the death stairs leading up to it!

This one is of the dining room which was cute.

This one is of part of the living room.

Awesome House!

My Realtor emailed me a listing yesterday of a new house that has just went up for sell. It's in our desired neighborhood, Park Hill and it is adorable!

It has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, built in 1950
1530 sq.ft. with a bonus room upstairs that is 420 sq.ft.
Brick, original hardwood floors and updated bath, etc.

I LOVE it. We are going to go and look at it tomorrow. I'm sure it will be sold quick and will not be available when we can actually buy, but at least I can dream for awhile.
