Manic Sunday/Monday

Another trip to the dump was made on Saturday. Brent's Dad and Grandpa came over early Saturday morning and loaded up a bunch more crap for us. I think one more trip will do it. We also worked in the yard again today. I think I got the flower beds all cleared out so I can plant some new flowers there and add the mulch. The yard is looking much better. I have discovered that we have some more baby birds in the same spot and Brent found some baby tree frogs on our roof today! I guess our house is where all the animals in Greenwood go to give birth. I'm glad to have them. I have another day off tomorrow, so I plan to go and get some flowers and get that done.

I didn't get my painting done this weekend, of course, but I did manage to get a lot of the cabinets done. We borrowed Ashley's paint sprayer and started on the doors tonight. The paint sprayer makes this a million times faster and they look better too. My goal is to have them completely done by the time I go back to work on Tuesday, but we'll see. We also went to Lowes over the weekend and found the knobs and hardware we are planning to put on them. We also found a ceiling fan we like, finally! It's brushed nickel and the blades are black which will look very nice in the living room AND it's only $99.00. Can't beat that price. We also found a cool light fixture for the dining room. It's simple and contemporary and it's only $30.00! We looked around and decided we weren't big on the whole chandalier thing and came across this one.

I have a lot to get done tomorrow, so I'm going to go and watch the boob tube for awhile and then call it a night. I sure wish I had my camera so I could take pictures. You know, my birthday is coming up in September (thought I would let everyone know in advance) maybe I'll get one then... Or I could get my pink beach cruiser that I have been wanting for too many years...

TGIF for me!

I'm taking a couple of vacation days at work, so technically today is my Friday! What do I plan to do on my days off? Paint of course. I have a lot of it to get done and I hope to get it finished over the weekend. I almost finished the laundry room last night. I just have to get a bit more paint to go over a few spots and then it will be done. I decided to paint the laundry room the same color as the living room, Banana Cream. It's a real light yellow and I think it's really pretty.
As for the dining room/kitchen, I've been thinking of maybe a blue/gray color. Since my living room opens up to the dining room/kitchen (just one big space) I need something that will blend well with the Banana Cream. I haven't looked at any paint colors yet, so who knows what I will come home with.
The master bathroom I'm thinking of a light green color. My bedroom is a real pretty tan color, so I think that will flow nicely together. Now I just have to go out and buy the paint and get it done.
I talked to the Realtor again yesterday and I'm getting even more excited about listing this sucker! I just want everything to work out and go as smoothly as possible.
I'm still without a camera, so I haven't been able to take pictures of my progress. Hopefully, I will be able to get another one very soon. It sucks not having one. I didn't realize how much I used it until I can't use it at all. And for the record the kitchen cabinets are STILL not done, but we are finishing them this weekend. We decided to put it off until we could get one of those paint sprayer things. I saw someone using one of those on HGTV and it went super fast and the paint was all even. Now I have to have one of those! HA

Dig It

I'm totally digging these hanging light fixtures. I was watching an episode of Pure Design and she decorated this woman's dining room and used one with pink silk fabric. It looked so good! So, I got online and googled them and came across this website, www.seascapelamps.com and I love all of their lamps. A little bit modern and a little bit retro. I do not however love the prices! Geez, that's insane. I thought I would try Ebay later on tonight to see what I could find. I have been looking for a new hanging light fixture for the kitchen. I wonder if something like this would work?? Hmmmmm... These were some of my favorites. If you have the time, check em' out!

TGIF

Well, today was realtor day and it went really good. I even have the realtor calling the "boobie lights", boobie lights. We went through the house and told her what we planned to do to the house and she went over some ideas she had with us. I'm even more excited now than ever! I think we should have everything done in 3 to 4 weeks! Then it's time to put it on the market and cross our fingers and hold our breath! It's so exciting and scary at the same time. Tomorrow we plan to get started painting and doing some stuff, so I better get to bed!

Dump Day

So, today is Dump Day! I wish I didn't have to work so I could go to the dump. I actually love going. If you have never been, I highly recommend it. Brent is off work for the rest of the week, so he is doing this with the help of his Grandpa's truck.
Yesterday, we got a lot done with the cabinets and they are looking really good. Tonight, I believe we are going to Home Depot to look for new hardware. I'm kind of excited about that. We also managed to squeeze in some time to clean out the garage and I made a "dump pile" for Brent. I didn't realize all the crap that I have stored in the garage! That stuff really adds up after awhile.
The garage sale has been canceled and postponed for a couple of weeks, which is fine with me. I was nowhere near ready to have one. My main priority is getting the house together. The Realtor is coming by tomorrow and we still have a lot to do. I hope she has a good imagination! I made a huge list of all the things to get done. Maybe she'll appreciate that!

Babies On The Brain...

Yes, I have babies on the brain among the other million things I have going on at the moment. Completely wrong time in my life to have "baby fever", but I do. So, I thought I would post some pictures of some really adorable nursery rooms. I've done decided that when I have a baby, I want to decorate the nursery more sophisticated rather than just bears and baby stuff! I found these on the internet and thought I would share! Enjoy!

New List

I've made a decision regarding my Summer. I am currently taking a math class for Summer I and then I had planned on taking another math class for Summer II (each class is 5 weeks long, so you cram everything in). As of last night I decided to drop the math class I am currently taking and not take anything for Summer II. It's going too fast for me plus I have a crap load of stuff to get done with the house. I feel much better since I have made the decision, but still tired.
I thought I would make a list for the weekend of things I want to get done around the house. Not that I will get it all done, but it makes me feel better knowing that there is a list somewhere. Not to mention my friend Summer and I are planning a garage sale this weekend. Not enough time in the day to get it all done!

1) FINISH CABINETS!!!!
2) Paint bathroom, kitchen, laundry room and crazy guest bedroom. (Seriously, the people that lived there before us painted their sons room bright blue and orange, Eeek)
3) Plant flowers
4) Look for new lighting fixture for kitchen
5) Hang up bathroom mirrors

If you don't have plans for the weekend, come on over! You know where I'll be!

I'm Tired... Update...

So, I didn't get as much done over the weekend as I would have like to, but I did accomplish somethings. We finally got to go and pick up our furniture on Saturday and I must say that it looks awesome! We also hung my Wal-Mart clearance curtains that I ordered and of course they were not the right size... So, we went and bought some full price ones at the store that I like much better! Over all, it looks like a totally different living room. Ignore the vase by the chair. Eventually, I will put some fresh flowers in it. That way when people come to look at my house, they will think that I just happen to have fresh flowers in my house at all times!

This is of the new chair/recliner and the curtains.

New couch and TV armoire.

These are close ups of the chair and couch.

My kitchen/laundry room is a mess! It seriously looks like a tornado has went through them. I got up Saturday morning and decided to start cleaning out the laundry room so it will be ready to paint and I had to move the stuff some place... So, it all ended up in the kitchen. I have since put somethings in boxes to get it out of the way. I get tired just looking at the mess.

We did get started on the cabinets, but not finished like I had planned. Hopefully, they will be pretty much done by Friday. I still need to get new hardware and knobs and such. We didn't get to plant any flowers either since it rained Saturday and Sunday, but we did get out to look at them and see what kinds we liked. Still not sure what to get.

And as I promised, here is the really cute vase I found at the garage sale for $10.00.I think it's totally worth the money and it looks really cool!

My goal is to have the house listed by early July. What do you think? Think it's possible? I sure hope so! We meet with Ashley at King Realty on Friday to go over everything! I'm so excited and I just can't hide it... For real! I'm about to drive my husband crazy cause it's all I talk about! If you know me then you know how overly excited I get about things. Sorry for long post, but I wanted to fill you guys in on everything that's going on at the Grist Household. I'll post more pictures as we get stuff done! It's bed time, nighty night.

Gotta Get Movin'

I have TONS to do this weekend! I emailed a Realtor yesterday about putting the house on the market and I believe we are all going to meet next Friday to go over everything. See what happens when Brent puts an idea in my head? I go forward full speed. Anyway, there are a few things I would like to get done before she comes over and looks at the house. Now, the key word in that sentence is LIKE, I seriously doubt I will get half of it done, but we'll see.

1) Spruce up the curb appeal. I want to plant a few new flowers in the front. We have one of those mailboxes that has brick going all the way around it. Well, I think someone may have hit it with their car before we ever moved in and it's a bit loose, so I would like to fix that too.

2) Finish the cabinets!!! I would LOVE to get those done this weekend. How long has this been going on with the cabinets? FAR TOO LONG. That is my main priority this weekend! I might have to call in the cavalry for this one.

3) Finish switching out the light socket fixtures?? Not real sure what those are called, but I've been slowly replacing those plain white tacky ones with brushed nickle ones. Looks much more modern.

4) Clean up the backyard and get that pool hauled off to the dump. From what I hear, it's only $5.00 to take stuff to the dump on Saturday's! Yippee...

5) Pick up our new furniture. I'm so excited! It's FINALLY in. We are going to try and get Brent's brother to come out and clean the carpets too.

That's a pretty big list and there is much more to do besides that. I'm gonna have to pace myself. I don't want to spend a ton of money on "sprucing up" the place when we plan on moving! But, there are certain things that must get done. Wish Me Luck!

Obsessed

So, now I am completely obsessed with moving back to Fort Smith. I'm trying to get my finances and credit report all straightened out. Hopefully pretty soon, we'll be in a new house! Not that I don't like my house that I'm in now, but my heart belongs to the Park Hill Neighborhood. We lived there in a rental house awhile back and it's just a great neighborhood. There are a lot of older homes and younger families and a great neighborhood to walk the doggies in! Keep your fingers crossed for me that all of the financial stuff goes good! You know me though, I am already obsessed with looking at houses and I came across this one in the Park Hill area for only $109,000. 3 bedroom, 2 bath... Aaahhh....

Garage Sale - Part II

My husband woke me up Saturday morning wanting to go garage sale shopping again. The last time I went, I decided to never go again since I never find anything, but I gave in. I mean shopping is shopping, right? They were have a sale at this nice storage building place and all the tenants were participating. It was rad! There were like a million garage sales all in one place! I found a really cool vase to put in the living room that I think will match well with the new couch and chair, but not too matchy matchy. But, I can't take a picture since my camera is broken. I think I will take one with my camera phone after we get back from dinner cause it's too cute not to post AND the best part I only paid $10.00 for it. She had it marked $12.00, but I used my excellent bargaining skills and got it for $10.00. I'm still not impressed with garage sales though. My goal is to find out the secret to getting the really good stuff. Fill me in on all the garage sale secrets people!
PS- My big ol' purse didn't knock over anything this time, which is good news :)

Weekend Update

I came home to the Hubs taking down the eyesore aka the pool. I was so excited! It already looks so much better. We had a really busy weekend, so unfortunately we haven't had time to haul off the junk yet, but I plan on it next weekend for sure! I would take another new picture of all the stuff removed, but I dropped my camera last night and it no longer works... So, until I get my new camera, I'm S.O.L!

While taking down the pool, my husband found this black widow spider and decided to put it in a container. We thought it was dead since it was all curled up looking dead and all, but it was all an act! I accidentially knocked the container off and the sucker came back to life. I know these are crappy pictures, but I wasn't taking any chances of getting my face eatin off just to get a good picture. I'm sure you can understand that! I'm glad the pool is gone. All it did was attract bugs, spiders and crazy insects.
I finally sold the couch set today (I think) We are waiting on him to come by and pick it up. I got like 25 calls from my ad in the paper! And who says advertising doesn't work? Now all I have to do is wait for my new set to get in. Not too much longer.

YAWN...

Wow, it has really been a hectic week for me. I started back to school on Monday and I am completely exhausted. I'm only taking one class, but it's every night (Mon - Thur) for 2 1/2 hours! Oh yeah, did I mention that it was Algebra? That much Math at one time is draining me! Then when I get home at 8pm, I have to do my homework, which takes me awhile, so I have just enough time to eat and then go to bed. I promise to write more this weekend! On a positive note, I did get my curtains in yesterday! I can't wait to put them up. I can't decide on if I want a black curtain rod or maybe a brushed nickle rod to match my light fixtures.... Decisions, Decisions! I still haven't received the call to come and pick up my furniture. I can't wait, I'm getting antsy! I still have a few days, but I thought maybe it would be in early. I don't know what I was thinking, nothing is EVER early. This weekend I want to clean my carpets so my new couch and chair have a clean place to live, at least for awhile. I haven't had the time to start cleaning my old couch, chair and ottoman, but I plan on doing that this weekend when I have more time. Hopefully, I will sell them fairly quick.
I will update more this weekend! Until then....
